Compoitional Trick #3: Macro

The purpose of changing the camera to Macro is to recive an up close look of the subjects which in this case it the rocks. Although there are two types of Macro, these are "texture" and "depth-of-field." the rocks are getting more of texture because of how close the photographer is to the rocks. You are able to see the coloring and the ruff edges around the smallish rocks. The phone is having more of the Depth Of Field because the background have more to it and the background is blurry.
