The ISO film speed experiment represents how fast the light can go into the picture. The top picture has a flash into the photo so the lights are hardly seen, once the 50 ISO had entered the picture as seen on the second photo, the higher the ISO gets the brighter the picture becomes because it uses the lighting around the area instead of just creating the lighting, like when using a flash.
